WG boys lacrosse falls, 12-4, to J-D

Wildcats outclassed by Evans, powerful Red Rams

— Tom Pritchard scored the lone West Genesee goal of the half during the first period, in between Engstrom’s and Perkins’. Thanks to a stellar defensive performance by the Rams, the Wildcats had to wait until halfway through the third quarter for their next tally.

In the end it was Evans who put the game out of reach when he scored two unassisted goals 14 seconds apart in the closing minutes of the third period. Pritchard would add a second goal as Ryan St. Croix and Brady Hoose each got one goal and one assist. Matt Koziol finished with eight saves.

Two nights earlier, WG reached the halfway point of its regular-season schedule, easily turning back Rome Free Academy 14-1. Though not putting together a long and sustained scoring spurt, the Wildcats did steadily build a 12-1 lead through three periods.

Dan Ginestro, with five goals and one assist, led the way as Tyler Brown contributed five assists to go with his lone tally.

Tom Pritchard scored twice and added an assist, while Ryan St. Croix, Brady Hoose, Adam Higginbotham, David Procopio, Pat Hanley and Brad Howes also scored. Ted Glesener, Matt Milne and Mark Niechcial had one assist apiece.

At 5-4 following the J-D loss, the Wildcats hosted Oswego on Tuesday and makes a visit to Cicero-North Syracuse on Friday night.
