First Presbyterian continues 200th celebration

First Presbyterian Church of Baldwinsville displays a 200th anniversary banner.

The First Presbyterian Church of Baldwinsville continued its 200th Anniversary celebration with the hanging of a banner on the south side of its steeple at the corner of Elizabeth and Oswego streets on Friday, March 29. It was one of the church’s many monthly celebrations scheduled for 2013. Created by John McFall of Atlantic Sign & Design in Baldwinsville, the banner replicates the church’s 175th anniversary celebration banner hung at the same location in 1988. Its Christian symbols include a cross representing faith, hope and charity; a white dove representing peace; and a red flame representing all-consuming love.

Additional events at the church include a 7 p.m. Striking Stings Hammered Dulcimer Ensemble of the Eastman Community Music School on Saturday, May 4, with a 4 p.m. free introductory workshop on the hammered dulcimer for all ages. All activities are open to the public. Call 635-9964 or visit presbville.com for further information.
