Dewitt man dead after a motorcycle crash on James Street

The Syracuse Police Department responded to a reported car/motorcycle crash that occurred at about 8:05 PM last night at the intersection of James St. at Sedgewick St. Upon arrival, officers located a male who appeared to have sustained serious injuries after the 2009 Aprilia motorcycle he was operating struck another vehicle. The male who was later identified as 38 year old Benjamin Koss of Dewitt, was immediately transported to Upstate Hospital for medical attention, but Koss later died as a result of his injuries.

The initial investigation determined that Koss was driving his motorcycle westbound on James St. when he struck the rear of a 2005 Dodge Durango that was stopped facing westbound on James St. at the Sedgewick St. intersection. The impact caused Koss to be ejected from the motorcycle and he was thrown into the eastbound lane where he was then struck by a 2008 Audi that was driving eastbound on James St. Neither of the other drivers sustained any injuries. The cause

of the crash is still under investigation.
