Baldwinsville Nature sketching and journaling program
Adults can dabble in the art of observing and drawing nature this spring at Beaver Lake Nature Center in the six-week nature sketching and journaling program. From 2 to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays, April 18, May 2, 9, 16 and 23, participants will learn about different sketching and journaling techniques from a naturalist and become more familiar with different places around the park. All artistic levels are welcome. Journals are included in registration fee, but participants should bring their own pencils, colored pencils and any other art supplies. $58; registration required.
Field Guide series
Beaver Lake Nature Center's Field Guide Series offers an in-depth look into the natural history and identification of various local species with a different topic each week as listed below. These naturalist-led programs are held at 1:30 p.m. Thursdays: April 18 – Butterflies and Moths; May 2 – Spring Wildflowers; June 6 – Fish; and June 20 – Snakes. $5; registration required.
Wood duck wanders
Beaver Lake Nature Center highlights a spectacular bird during the Wood duck wander. A quiet guided walk at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, April 20, may afford visitors the opportunity to see Wood Ducks, one of nature's finest offerings.
On a Lark
At 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, children ages 8 to 11 can come to Beaver Lake Nature Center to learn about birds and birdsong through a variety of outdoor games, followed by a short bird walk. On a Lark, a naturalist-led program will conclude with the making and enjoying of a sweet "bird's nest" snack. $9 per child; registration required; children must be accompanied by an adult.
Guided weekend walks
Beaver Lake Nature Center invites visitors to join a naturalist for a guided weekend walk at 2 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday in April, free with admission. Topics for each weekend's walks are listed below:
