Nature movie Monday for children

The Children's Room at Beaver Lake Nature Center becomes a movie theater for nature movies at 4:30 p.m. every Monday afternoon in March and April. Elementary-age children can come learn about the following topics with new friends, hear from a naturalist how the movie relates to Beaver Lake and enjoy some complimentary popcorn during the show. Please call the nature center to register before 3 p.m. the day of the show. Seating is limited. Free with nature center admission.

Wood duck wanders

Beaver Lake Nature Center highlights a spectacular bird during the Wood duck wanders. A quiet guided walk at 7:30 a.m. Saturdays, April 20, may afford visitors the opportunity to see Wood Ducks, one of nature's finest offerings.

Field Guide series

Beaver Lake Nature Center's Field Guide Series offers an in-depth look into the natural history and identification of various local species with a different topic each week as listed below. These naturalist-led programs are held at 1:30 p.m. Thursdays: April 18 – Butterflies and Moths; May 2 – Spring Wildflowers; June 6 – Fish; and June 20 – Snakes. $5; registration required.

Live raptor presentation

Beaver Lake Nature Center welcomes Wild Wings, a rehabilitation and educational organization from Honeoye Falls, at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20, for a live raptor presentation. This special opportunity will offer a close-up look at several live birds of prey including an owl, a falcon and a hawk. The birds' handlers will introduce the different types of raptors and how they are adapted to hunt and fly so skillfully. Tickets are $7 per person and should be purchased in advance.
