COLUMN: Library Focus - April marks National Library week

— Break week is over and gone again, but there’s still lots to do this month at the library with classes, crafts, National Library Week (April 14 to 20), the library budget vote and trustee election on April 25, and our spring book sale from April 25 through April 29. Mark your calendars, make your plans and stock up for vacation reading.

Word 2010 Level 1

Participants will learn basic concepts required to produce basic documents from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 11. Improve your employment prospects – this useful class is free but registration is required. Sign up on our calendar at bville.lib.ny.us.

Mystery Readers’ Club

The group meets at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 11, for a brief visit to the haunting Blue Ridge Mountains as they discuss “The Rosewood Casket,” by Sharyn McCrumb. Four brothers with very different opinions are drawn back to the family homestead to deal with their father’s death and the possible sale of the family homestead to real estate developers while neighbor Nora Bonesteel faces troubles with the law over the bones left by a much older death. New members are always welcome.

Spring cardmaking workshop

Celebrate the beauty of the somewhat delayed season by making beautiful cards under the guidance of Missy Shipman at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 11. Registration and a $15 materials fee are required.

Friday Tech Drop In

Bring us your smartphones, ereaders and laptops that you are yearning to use freely but have not quite figured out yet and we will do our best to help set you on the road to mastery from 10 a.m. to noon every Friday in the computer classroom.

Homebuyer seminar

Time for a new home? Questions and answers on current real estate and financing topics will be discussed at this seminar held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 14. Refreshments provided; registration required.
