North Syracuse This spring, the North Syracuse Central School District is launching a new program entitled Parent University. As per the district’s Strategic Plan (STRAP), the creation of a Parent University is an initiative to empower families by equipping them with access to student learning information and engaging them in opportunities to support their children’s success.
There will be three Parent University courses offered this spring. With standardized testing being a large part of our students’ lives, this spring the district is offering test preparation classes for parents/guardians to help their children succeed. The classes have been broken up into two levels; elementary and secondary.
In recent weeks, it has come to the district’s attention that there have been several instances of cyber bullying. To help parents/guardians prevent cyber bullying from occurring and dealing with it if it does occur, the district has created a class as part of Parent University.
Parent University Spring 2013 classes begin the week of April 8. Additional information regarding classes and registration is available on the Parent University website at nscsd.org/parentuniversity.
