Baldwinsville Elden Elementary School hosted its seventh annual restaurant day on March 14 for its third-graders to reinforce students’ proper dining manners. Staff and parent volunteers transformed a portion of the school cafeteria into a café, complete with a hostess, wait staff and tables covered with bright red table cloths to provide students with a restaurant dining experience.
As they entered the café, students checked in with the hostess and were shown to tables decorated with flameless candles. Boys politely pulled out chairs for the girls before they all sat down to a three-course meal.
During lunch, students were expected to use their restaurant manners, saying “Please” and “Thank you,” sitting with napkins on their laps and keeping their voices to a proper level as soft music played in the background to create a relaxed atmosphere.
