Beaver Lake Nature Center - spring break 2013

Spotted salamander migration

Beaver Lake Nature Center invites the public to witness this year's Spotted Salamander migration during an early April evening. A naturalist-guided walk beginning at 6:30 p.m. will introduce participants to the natural history of these amphibians and the chance to meet a migrating salamander or two en route. Predictability is not always possible in nature, so interested participants in this evening of discovery should call the nature center at 638-2519 to be put on a calling list. The nature center will give participants at least a 24-hour notice. $2; registration required.

Trail tales

Preschool-age children, accompanied by an adult, are invited to gather at Beaver Lake Nature Center for the popular Trail Tales program at 1 p.m. Thursdays, April 11, 25, May 9 and 23. A naturalist reads two stories to the children and then leads the group on a hike themed to match the stories. This program is free with admission.

Spring vacation camp

Beaver Lake Nature Center's Spring Vacation Camp is the perfect way for first through fourth graders to spend spring break (from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday, April 5). Students will enjoy their time off from school playing nature-themed games, hiking with friends and making cool, crafty creations. Students can sign up for one or more days of naturalist-led fun and must register in advance. $30 per child, per day.
