North Syracuse The North Syracuse Police Department announced Wednesday that its members are celebrating the return of one of their police sergeants from deployment in Kuwait.
North Syracuse Police Sergeant Roberta Comerford deployed with the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team for a one-year deployment to Northern Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. She was assigned as the director of emergency services and provost marshal (DES/PM) covering all the Northern Kuwait camps. The DES/PM oversees all emergency services personnel.
As DES/PM, Comerford advised command on all matters of law enforcement, fire emergency and emergency medical services and security overseeing more than 700 personnel from the law and order detachment, contract civilian security, fire and EMS. The DES/PM plans the use of military police (MP), fire and EMS assets and directs use of K-9 teams for the area of operation.
Comerford served as the liaison between U.S. Military Police and Kuwait Police.
While deployed, Comerford was promoted to the military rank of lieutenant colonel.
“We are very proud of her and glad she is home safe” said Police Chief Michael J. Crowell.
