Baldwinsville The Lysander Democratic Committee held its Democratic Caucus Thursday, Sept. 20, at which point members endorsed the following candidates for this November’s election: James M. Hickey (R) for town councilor and Christopher Patrick (D) for highway superintendent.
Hickey is currently a Lysander Town Board Councilor, having been appointed to serve out the term of former Councilor Brian May. Hickey is also a member of the Lysander First Committee.
“The Democratic Committee is proud of Mr. Hickey’s work with the town board and respects the direction and common sense approach the board is taking towards town government,” said Tina Winkler, chair of the LDC. “Their initiatives and efforts demonstrate a sincere concern for all the residents of the Town of Lysander.”
According to Winkler, Patrick is a member of the Lysander Democratic Committee whose credentials qualify him to serve in the position of highway superintendent.
“Mr. Patrick agrees with and fully supports the proposition to change the highway superintendent’s position from elective to appointive,” she said adding the proposition will appear as a referendum on the Nov. 6 ballot. “Mr. Hickey, Mr. Patrick and the Democratic Committee totally support any consolidation or intermunicipal agreements with other local municipalities that will reduce the burden to the taxpayers without reducing the quality of services. Changing the highway superintendent’s position from elective to appointive will further this goal and lead to more effective and efficient town government.”
