LETTERS: Lounsbury further explains position on proposed South Meadows zone change

—The plan has been redrawn so that the collector street is shown on the plan in full compliance with the Village Code Paragraph 155.8 Street Design Standards. Appropriate sidewalks and bike lanes should be designed in, to encourage non-vehicular traffic, and the developer should commit to build the future extension of the collector street to the property line, as well.

—Any connection of Atwell Ridge Road with South Meadows development shall be designed constructed and maintained for access by pedestrians and bicycles only, as a way to achieve the “connectivity” between neighborhoods the village wishes to promote without further jeopardizing the safety and security of South Village residents or visiting friends and neighbors. South Village Drive serves twice as many homes than any other minor street in the village.

—An unbiased traffic study is conducted, perhaps funded by the village, to determine the likely impact of increased traffic through the area once the South Meadows development and collector streets are connected to VES and Route 20 East.
