Quick OT goal pushes Westhill soccer past Cazenovia

Lakers rally twice, but Etoll wins it

— Matteson’s last two saves helped set up Polsin’s goal a minute later, coming from the top-right corner of the 18-yard box. But that effort turned out to be for naught as Jake Etoll scored in overtime before a Cazenovia player even touched the ball.

“Last year we came here and gave up three goals in the first 15 (minutes),” Reynolds said. “We were just out of it the whole time. It makes a big difference this year because they showed that fight. They knew they weren’t out of it, but they kept on working.

“So as far as early in the season and a loss, I’ll take it. I don’t like it, but I’ll take.”

The teams face off again in a rematch on Oct. 9 at the Sean Googin Sports Complex in Cazenovia.
