Beaver Lake Nature Center presents ...

An Evening of Wildlife Photography

At 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, Beaver Lake Nature Center welcomes visitors for an evening of enjoying the beautiful wildlife photography of local photographer Eric Dresser. For each of his photographs in the slideshow, Eric will illuminate the background for how he planned the shot and the techniques he used. An Evening of Wildlife Photography is $12 per person; registration required.

Trail Guide Volunteers Needed

Beaver Lake Nature Center is looking for individuals interested in sharing their love and knowledge of nature with the hundreds of children that come to Beaver Lake Nature Center each year for field trips. Volunteers who are 18 years or older, after attending a training course held at the nature center, will guide elementary level students along the trails of Beaver Lake. The next upcoming trail guide training workshop is Sept. 20 and 21. Interested individuals should call the nature center to sign up.

Landscape Watercolors

Artist Lucie Wellner is coming to Beaver Lake Nature Center Saturday, Sept. 22, to teach Landscape Watercolors, a workshop on techniques that will help unlock the magic and mystery of this versatile medium. Held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., this one day class is perfect for beginners but will also offer valuable tips to painters who would like to venture outdoors. Topics covered include basic brush/wash techniques, introduction to materials, color mixing, value and setting up for "plein air" painting. A list of everyday household items that should be brought to class will be supplied ahead of time, but most materials for the class will be provided and are included in the cost: $60 per person; registration required.

Early autumn paddle

At 4 p.m. Saturdays, Sept. 22 and 29, Beaver Lake Nature Center offers the chance to enjoy autumn's glow with a naturalist on an early evening paddle around Beaver Lake. During an Early Autumn Paddle, the group will beach the canoes briefly to enjoy the sunset while snacking on cheese, crackers and cider. $22 per person includes canoe rental; registration required.
