— The Cazenovia League of Women Voters will hold a fundraiser, beginning at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15 in the Nelson Odeon, located at the corner of Route 20 and Nelson Road.

The event will feature the award winning Syracuse area band, Stroke. Founded in 1982 by Hall of Fame artist, Isreal Hagan, Stroke has shared the stage with many music legends including Robert Cray, B.B. King and Carlos Santana.

Hagan plays bass and vocals, with Buke Babikan on drums, John Kelsey on guitar and Bill Barry on keyboard and vocals. In the past 30 years, Stroke has won 11 Syracuse Area Music Awards.

What distinguishes this group from others is their vast collection of original material released over the years on albums, cassettes and CDs. Releases include, “The Real Deal,” “Accept no Substitutes,” “Stay Together,” “So Smooth,” “Covered,” “Bedroom Funk” as well as two solo albums released by Hagan, “Just Me” and his recently released “Balance.”

The evening will be rockin’ so all are invited to bring friends and dancing shoes.

Also featured at the event will be wine tastings from Owera Vineyards, beer and hors d’oeuvres.

A silent auction will be held, offering participants a four-night stay in a three-bedroom condo at Gore Village in North Creek, plus numerous items that have been donated by local merchants.

Proceeds for the fundraiser will benefit the Students Inside Albany program, an intensive four-day training experience designed to immerse high school students in the process by which public policy is proposed, enacted and changed in New York state and give students the tools they can use to influence and affect this process.

Proceeds will also benefit the Cazenovia High School scholarship for a deserving graduating senior.
