Shoppers enjoy browsing the many tables and titles of used books under the tents in McHarrie Park during the Museum at the Shacksboro Schoolhouse’s annual book sale. This year's 22nd annual event will be held Sept. 6 to 10.
Baldwinsville The 22nd Annual Book Sale sponsored by the Museum at the Shacksboro Schoolhouse starts at 5 p.m. today.
The event, which runs for five days, will offer more than 10,000 gently-used books under the tents on the museum grounds at 46 Canton St. in the village.
Books are arranged on tables for easy browsing and volunteers constantly restock as space becomes available. In addition, more than 40 categories are offered including fiction, mystery, history, biography, gardening, cooking, crafts, science and nature, religion, reference, children’s and young adult literature. A separate tent houses vintage, collectable and local interest titles.
The sale will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. There is no admission, free parking is available and credit cards are accepted.
Proceeds from the sale benefit Baldwinsville’s local history museum. The museum is open year round and offers local history information, changing exhibits, programming and special events throughout the year. The museum also maintains a significant heritage peony garden and presents Peony Fest each June. A book and gift shop featuring items of local interest is also open during museum hours throughout the year.
