COLUMN: Volunteer Connections - Village seeks help with trucks at the four corners study

— Baldwinsville Oktoberfest will be here soon and needs your help. This family fun, two-day event will run from 4 to 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, and from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. If you would like to lend them a hand by staffing the admission gate and selling beer and wine tokens, please call Megan O’Donnell at 638-2050.

The Village of Baldwinsville is looking for volunteers to help conduct a traffic study of trucks coming through the "four corners" intersection for three days sometime during the next two weeks. Volunteers would be given a chair and form to check off and a safety vest to wear during their three-hour shift. Shifts will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you can help and are age 14 and older, please call Steve at the village office at 635-9665.

Save the date for our next Volunteer Recruitment Fair scheduled from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at the Baldwinsville Public Library. Get first hand information from representatives of 20 local and area groups looking for new members and volunteers. Come explore the volunteer opportunity that is right for you and make this the year you decide to get involved to make a difference.

The Baldwinsville Optimist Club is looking for volunteers to help sell raffle tickets at their Oktoberfest booth on Friday, Sept. 14, and Saturday, Sept. 15. Three hour shifts are available for both days so if you can help, please call Nancy Conley at 638-0251 or Gene Hearl at 516-1787.

Calling all Baker High juniors and seniors: Would you like to make a difference in the life of a younger student? Our Mentoring Program will pair you with a student needing some extra one-on-one attention for about 30 minutes once a week after school. If you would like to become a mentor, please check with your English teacher for an application during the week of Sept. 10.
