Members of the JE Marching Eagles celebrate their win after returning home from New Jersey.
Jordan The Jordan Elbridge Marching Eagles, under the direction of Katie Daniels and Christopher Ganey, traveled to the 2012 Yahama Cup competition in East Rutherford, N.J., this past weekend. They took the field Saturday morning with Eagle Pride and presented a show that was unstoppable. The Marching Eagles waited with patience and excitement until 4:30 Saturday evening when the awards were announced.
The Eagles did the community proud by winning their class with a score of 81.063 out of five competing bands. The second place Long Branch High School from Long Branch, N.J., scored a 76.88. Not only did JE win first in their class, they also won the following competitions: best percussion, best music, best guard, best visual and best effect.
Escorted by the Elbridge Fire Department, the Marching Eagles returned home Sunday to several dozen cheering parents, relatives and friends. The Eagles are hard at work rehearsing for their competition Saturday at Central Square leading up to the New York State championship competition Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Carrier Dome.
