Cazenovia The Cazenovia Rotary Club teamed up with Landscape Authority and Cazenovia Lumber to build a raised garden for residents of the Cazenovia Village Apartments, located at 24 Nelson St.
24 Nelson St. Resident Leslie Chyseler brought the need for a raised bed to the attention of Robert Huntsmeyer, a longstanding Cazenovia Rotary member, in late July.
Together, Chyseler and Huntsmeyer coordinated the project, sponsors and construction of the raised garden at the senior living community.
The Cazenovia Rotary Club provided the labor and financial support, and Cazenovia Lumber provided discounted materials. Landscape Authority, which has provided full service landscaping in the area for the past 15 years, donated top soil, mulch, strawberry plants and dwarf fruit trees.
Owner, Doug Jarvis, noted he was happy to donate time and materials to help improve a community that has provided for his family for years.
As part of the Rotary International organization, the local club was happy to assist in the completion of a project that “improved life in its community.”
Rotary International is an organization that focuses providing service above self.
