Cazenovia It was an electrifying game as the Cazenovia Laker Pop Warner B-Team defeated the Whitestown Warriors 14 -12 on Sept. 23.
The game started with the Lakers’ offense taking possession of the ball after the kickoff. Unable to gain the first down, the ball was returned to the Warriors possession. The Warriors quickly moved down the field to score the first touch down of the game.
With the score 0-6, the Laker offense went to work putting the Lakers on the score board. A 75-yard run by Patrick Nourse tied the score. While the extra point kick by Jacob Macheda put the Lakers in the lead 8-6 at the end of the quarter.
The Laker defense continued to battle a tough Warriors offense with hard backfield tackles by Casey Cunningham, Christian Monroe and Chad Carges, but the Warriors prevailed with a second touch down, placing the score at 8-12.
The Laker offense took the field with determination to win the game. The hard blocking by the offensive line allowed first down runs by Nourse and Matthew McLaughlin. The Lakers’ drive up the field ended with at touch down pass to Macheda that put the Lakers in the lead 14 -12.
During halftime the Cazenovia Laker B-Team Pop Warner Cheerleaders kept the crowd on their feet with a preview of their competition performance.
The determined Laker defense of Carges, James Pavelchak, Ian Fostveit, Tiernan Tormey, Ben Knutsen, Andrew Johnson, Monroe, Ryan Wozniak, Jacob Wells, Logan Proctor and Connor Riedl effectively squelched any touch down attempts by the Warriors, giving the undefeated Cazenovia Pop Warner B Team their fourth win of the season.
