Lysander Parks and Recreation offers October programs

Adult basketball

Held from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays (through March 4) at Durgee Jr. High gym, this open program is for adults (21 and older) residing in Lysander and Van Buren only; no children allowed. Teams will be formed from those present; first-time participants must fill out a registration card and show proof of residency (license) then sign in. $2 each evening.

Walking program

Enjoy walking or looking to get out of the fall weather conditions? Join others from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday nights (through March 4) for a brisk walk through Durgee Jr. High School hallways. This is a good way to walk safely indoors and keep fit through the fall and winter months. Free; participants under 16 must have an adult with them; everyone needs to sign in.

Community games

Looking for a pick-up game but don’t have enough players? Come out to Lysander Park from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursdays (through Oct. 25) for a free pickup game: kickball, sand-volleyball, basketball, flag-football, kan-jam, tag games and more. For boys and girls 13 and up; everyone is welcome to come out and have fun. Each week may be a new and different game for the week. No games if it rains; no registration necessary.
