continued Currently, there are no plans to offer full day kindergarten in the next school year.
Board member Jeffrey Marier said after touring the schools and having an opportunity to talk with staff, he believes full day kindergarten would be a benefit to the students, a sentiment many employed in the district also shared with him.
Reeves said when the building feasibility and building utilization committees began meeting, full day kindergarten wasn’t brought up as something they should explore. However, Monday night she said it is something the board should look at.
During the public comment portion of the meeting, several parents expressed their gratitude to the board and committees for continuing to explore the possibility of keeping Van Buren Elementary open.
The board will meet next at 7 p.m. Oct. 15 in the cafeteria at Durgee Junior High.
