LETTER: Jenni-Lyn Watson golf tournament raised $20,000

— To the editor:

On July 21, 2012, the second annual Jenni-Lyn Watson Memorial Golf Tournament was held to raise money for the Jenni-Lyn Watson Memorial Fund. The tournament was a success, raising approximately $20,000. In June of this year the fund, through Liverpool Dollars for Scholars, awarded a scholarship to Bri Macri, a senior at Liverpool High School, who is now attending Mercyhurst University majoring in dance.

The reason for the success of the tournament is the character of the people of Central New York, which is caring, supporting, sharing, giving, and laughter. This was evident throughout the tournament by all who participated from the companies who sponsored the holes or donated items to raffle, the individuals who purchased and donated items to raffle, the anonymous person who donated a 4- inch flat screen HDTV for the grand prize raffle drawing, the volunteers and the golfers. All who were involved clearly represented the spirit of Jenni-Lyn.

We thank all of you for participating and for making the tournament a success and for the respect and dignity you have accorded us and our family. Also thank you to Lonnie and Jim B. of Radisson for, like last year, going above and beyond.

We especially want to thank the board of directors of the tournament, Ed Ventrone, Jr., Kelly Kinahan, Jim Colloca, Ed and Cindy Ventrone, Sr. and Nick and Judy Campitello for your tireless efforts, encouragement and support.

To all of you who have been involved in the tournament, we can’t put into words what your love, prayers and support has meant to us these past two years. What you have done has strengthened us — thank you.

God’s love, peace and strength to all.
