Floral notes: Shine a light

Community Columnist

I’d rather decorate public and my outdoor spaces to share the beauty of this fleeting season. Let us light up a child’s eyes or warm a lonely soul, without a lot of sparkle in their lives.

If no one is coming to your home for the holidays, don’t give in to the darkness of winter. Light the candles in the windows, go out and help those who have nothing and celebrate what this season is for.

CazCares is headed up by Cazenovia Garden Club member Gigi Redmond, helped by our members all year and at Christmas. We donate to the needs of her clients as they struggle to provide what we take for granted. All gifts come directly from the members, with love.

We also donate $100 each year to the library for gardening books, as well as planting and maintaining their seasonal garden displays.

This year, Madison County is planning to cut funding completely to the library, so if you are thankful for such a wonderful place to enjoy, please think of them in your holiday giving.

The Garden Club sale is coming this Saturday. Please join us at the Library Community Room from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Upstairs, enjoy my Christmas Goose theme in the main room by the checkout desk.

We have so much to give each other, let’s share!

Nancy Hook is an avid gardener and an active member of the Cazenovia Garden Club. She can be reached at 655-8754.
