Baldwinsville Preschool-age children, accompanied by an adult, are invited to gather at Beaver Lake Nature Center for the popular Trail Tales program at 1 p.m. Thursdays, Nov. 15 and 29. A naturalist reads two stories to the children and then leads the group on a hike themed to match the stories. FREE.
Weekend walks in November
Beaver Lake Nature Center invites visitors to join a naturalist for a free guided Weekend Walk at 2 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday in November. Each weekend features a different topic: Nov. 10 and 11 features birds that stick around; Nov. 17 and 18 features talking turkey; and Nov. 24 and 25 features wildlife preparing for winter.
At 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, Beaver Lake Nature Center invites children for Nature Puppets. A walk in the woods at Beaver Lake Nature Center will enliven children's imaginations and inspire a puppet show once back in the new Children's Room. Children will have the opportunity to make one of the nature center's new wildlife puppets come to life, and to create their own puppets to take home. Designed for children 6 to 12 years old, accompanied by a parent or guardian. $9; registration required.
Beaver Lake Nature Center will offer wreathmaking workshops at 6 p.m. Nov. 21, 27 and 28 and at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24. Participants will fashion their own wreath from a simple household coat hanger and evergreen boughs. The final product will be a treasure to take home or an impressive handmade gift. $15; registration required.
Identify animal tracks
At 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, Beaver Lake Nature Center offers an in-depth look into the art and science of identifying animal tracks in the snow. During this program, a part of Beaver Lake Nature Center's Field Guide Series, participants will join a naturalist out on the trail to learn more about observing the footprints of wild animals that remain in the area during the winter. $5; registration required.
