The board authorized a five-year agreement with the county for snow removal for a half mile stretch of West Chestnut Street. The village will be plowing the section.

“We actually have an updated contract with the county, which reflects a little bit more money, and it also reflects a provision if we exceed 150 inches [of snow] we get some additional [funds],” Atkinson said.

The board also engaged in a contract with the CNYSPCA for dog control.

“We've been using the SPCA,” Atkinson said. “They've worked really well with us. Prices appear to be lower and probably the best part about it is that our treasurer, Diane Kufel, has been able to negotiate lower fees for residents to release their dogs from the pound.”

The contract runs from Jan. 1, 2013 to Dec. 31, 2013.

Finally, the board OK’d an expenditure of $5,630 for an overlay in asphalt of the municipal parking lot at Church Street and North Main Street.

“This is a big patch, is what this is,” Atkinson said.

The next village board meeting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 at the North Syracuse Community Center.
