West Genesee schools shell out for Sandy relief

— The West Genesee Central School District’s relationship with the surrounding community is very strong, which has only helped the relief efforts.

“When we mentioned the K through 12 effort, we already had community members calling us, telling us that they would be able to provide transportation for the items to get down to the affected areas, through their businesses and those types of things,” Brown said. “That was within probably the first hour of the information being out in the public.”

West Genesee students will be collecting items in all buildings through Thursday, Nov. 15, and assembling kits the next day. Community members that would like to donate to the cause may bring hygienic items to any one of the district’s schools.
