— In Liverpool, Venditti worked with LPD Sgt, Mike Manns on the tree project.

“I suggested shape of a teardrop,” Venditti remembered, “and Mike Bean said. ‘Yeah, I can do that.’ He found the right tree and he did the pruning.”

Bean was glad to help. “I was more than happy to provide this special tree from my tree farm just outside Skaneateles,” he said.

Kinsella’s Quarry in Manlius donated a memorial stone on which a plaque will soon be mounted at the base of the tree. The plaque was engraved by Dan Monti at the Pen & Trophy Center in Syracuse.
