Baldwinsville This is truly a watershed year for voters. For this reason, if for no other, it’s absolutely essential that you exercise your right to vote on Nov. 6, regardless of how you choose to vote.
Unfortunately, the level of media focused on the national election has overshadowed important decisions that we need to make here at home. Please take time to consider and choose your local candidates, too.
My name is Jim Hickey and I respectfully request your vote, so that I can continue to proudly serve as your Lysander town councilor, as I have since Jan. 3 of this year. Here’s who I am and what I can offer:
Independent thinking: Prior to registering as a member of the Republican party earlier this year, I was unaffiliated with any political party, and I still approach every board vote in a nonpartisan way.
Bipartisan support: Although I’m now a Republican, I’ve been officially endorsed by both the Conservative and Democratic parties of the town of Lysander as a member of Lysander First.
Local pride: Unlike my opponent, who feels that Lysander must recover the pride it’s allegedly lost, my wife and I are still very proud to call Lysander home and to raise our family here.
Lifelong residency: I’ve lived in central New York my entire life including North Syracuse, where I was born, Liverpool, and Lysander, which for the past eight years I’ve proudly called my home.
Family values: My wife, Linda and I have been married for 21 years, and we deliberately moved to the community of Lysander eight years ago to raise our two children, Nina, 9, and Ayden, 7.
Community service: I’ve served on the boards of the Beaver Lake Nature Center, Volunteer Center and Junior Achievement, and I’m active in Cub Scout Pack #248 and St. Mary’s Academy.
