LETTERS: County comptroller highly qualified to conduct study

— Will those in favor of more power for themselves stoop any lower?

After the joint hearing on the issue of the elected vs. appointed highway supervisor held jointly by the towns of Van Buren, Lysander and the Village of Baldwinsville, I began hearing things, things I could not believe, so I went to the tape. The tape revealed two town supervisors casting dispersions on our highly qualified County Comptroller Bob Antonacci. First, I heard Claude state preparing a study of three municipalities would be beyond his scope, then stating he would want a study performed by an unbiased outside party. This was followed by John Salisbury stating I would like someone outside that doesn't have a political agenda. This went on until Russ Johnson pointed out I would think he would be objective and would hope he's not biased. I know the Comptroller’s office has conducted numerous studies on consolidation, the most recent on the East Syracuse PD, and I have not heard one allegation of bias or political agenda.

To degrade someone’s reputation so you can try to influence people to give up their right to vote is shameful.
