Free concert series at Johnson Park runs June 4 through Aug. 22

— A highlight of the series will be the Aug. 13 concert by Smokin,’ one of the area’s most popular rock bands. Sammy Hall of Fame drummer Jan Fetterly – a local rock legend well-remembered as a member of Sam & The Twisters – will make one of last local appearances here with Smokin’ that evening before he moves to Arizona in the fall.

On Aug. 22 the series will conclude, as usual, with the John Denver Memorial Food Drive Concert featuring folksinger Alan Taylor and Two Feet Short.

The 2012 concert series is sponsored by WellCare of CNY and several dozen area businesses including Nichols Supermarket where series schedules can be obtained. To sponsor a concert, call Gunnip at 516-0316.

In case of rain on concert nights, the performances will be canceled.
