Volunteer Connections: Lock 24 Visitor Center set to open

— The B’ville Visitor’s Center, located on Lock 24, will be opening soon to greet boaters and other visitors to our community and offer helpful information about where to find services, restaurants, points of interest and events happening in and around our area. Volunteers staff the center for a two-hour shift between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily. For more information about volunteering at the center, please call Nancy Porter at 638-1655.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is recruiting young men aged 18 and older to serve as camp counselors from June 23 through 29 at the Rotary Sunshine Camp in Rush. Please contact Donna Schilt at 451-8269 or email her at dschilt@mdausa.org as soon as possible for more information about this unique opportunity to work one-on-one with a boy camper.

Tour de Cure ride for the American Diabetes Association needs volunteers for their event on Sunday, June 3, at Verona Beach State Park. Volunteers can help with registration, serving breakfast and lunch, route guides and cleanup. Please visit tour.diabetes.org and click on “Verona Beach” event and scroll down to “Volunteers.” There is information and an on-line response form.

The Baldwinsville Volunteer Center is looking for someone to lend a hand doing clerical work once a week for about an hour or so. Day and time is flexible and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel 2007 would be helpful. Please call 638-0251 for more info.
