To the editor:
I am writing to thank Cazenovia Village Mayor Kurt Wheeler, Trustee Tim Mahoney and members of the Cazenovia Village Board; Town Supervisor Ralph Monforte and members of the Cazenovia Town Board; Bill Carr and the Cazenovia Department of Public Works employees; Madison County Highway employees and their equipment; New York State Assemblyman Bill Magee, Cazenovia Village Engineer John Dunkle; and anyone I may have missed, for all your time and effort getting the Clark Street bridge, just off Route 13 in Cazenovia, restored.
I started crossing the Clark Street bridge when I was approximately 10 years old and pedaling newspapers for my late uncle John F. “Jack” Ryan.
There is an old saying, that it takes 30 days to break a habit – well when you are almost 70 years old, that’s not true.
So, not to look too much like a fool, I put a camera in my truck. And when I did forget and drive down to the bridge site, I would park and take a couple pictures of the progress.
As I speak for myself - and am sure the same goes for everyone living in this area – it is very much appreciated to have the bridge back and that the bridge is much safer for children who walk to Burton Street Elementary School. The children would be much more safe yet if parents who drive their children to school would utilize the bus service, which is offered and travels past their home, as it is the safest mode of transportation.
Again, thank you to all involved, for all the hard work and quick response to this safety issue.
