The Robert J. Hydon Post 239, American Legion of Skaneateles, is respectfully honored to host the 2012 Memorial Day Parade and Service on Monday, May 28. All veterans as well as members of the American Legion (past and present) are invited to participate in the parade and service.
Attire is any service uniform (encouraged) or appropriate coat and slacks.
The parade will assemble at 8:30 a.m. at the Skaneateles American Legion Post on Jordan Road for the first ceremony. It will then move across the street to St. Mary’s Cemetery for a Memorial Service, then move down Jordan Street to the village.
The parade will march through the village, turn west on Genesee Street to Lakeview Cemetery for a memorial service. It will then proceed back through the village to the Veterans Memorial in Shotwell Park for the Memorial Day Service and address.
The parade will then disband at Shotwell Park.
We are pleased to announce this year’s speaker is Colonel Earl A. Evans, Mission Support Group Commander for the NY Air National Guard 174th Fighter Wing at Hancock Field, Syracuse.
Refreshments will be served during an open house at the American Legion Post following the parade and service.
