Baker students honored

— Shannon Hines, of Baldwinsville, was recently honored for her academic achievement during the Presidential Scholars Program ceremony at Western New England University. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hines, Shannon is currently a senior at Baker High School, and active in track and field, wind ensemble and Baldwinsville pep band. She plans to study pre-pharmacy at Western New England's College of Arts and Sciences.

Baker High School student Amanda Mackey, of Baldwinsville, is the recipient of two awards. She has received the Graduating Seniors Program Award, at the Gold Level, from the US Figure Skating Association and was recognized as a 2011-12 Discus Award winner for her achievements in the areas of academics, athletics and faith. The Discus Awards is a national program that provides recognition and scholarship opportunities to all-around high school students who excel in three of ten key attributes. Amanda is now eligible for 2011-12 Discus Awards scholarships.
