Former major league star Dave Giusti (North Syracuse Class of 1957) and six other distinguished players/teams will be saluted on Saturday, May 19 when Cicero-North Syracuse High School and the baseball booster club dedicate their Baseball Wall of Fame at approximately 1 p.m. at the Gillette Road Middle School varsity diamond.
Joining Giusti, who was one of the top relief pitchers of his era and unscored upon when the Pittsburgh Pirates won the 1971 World Series, are Malcolm ‘Mal’ Mallette (NS ’41), Robert ‘Skip’ Kenny (NS ’66), Dana Drisko (NS ’76), Lenny Brutcher (CNS ’88), the Regional Champion 1995 Team and Matt Nandin (CNS ’05).
The Wall of Fame ceremony will take place between the consolation and championship games of the John Ilacqua Jr. Memorial Tournament in which the Northstars will be hosting a tough four team field comprised of Westhill, Bishop Ludden and Baldwinsville.
The annual alumni baseball outing for former players from North Syracuse, Cicero and Cicero-North Syracuse High School will also held in conjunction with the Ilacqua Tournament and include a complimentary cookout during the championship tilt with the alumni batting practice and game to follow (approximately 4 p.m.). Interested alumni players should contact Joe Marzullo at jmarzull@nscsd to register, although walk-in attendees will still be welcomed.
