Attendees of the FCA Sports Camp informational meeting discuss the upcoming season on the lawn of 54Freedom Inc. April 29, at 5 Ledyard Ave. This year the camp will be held June 25 through 29 at Kutztown University.
Cazenovia Jim Griffin and Eric Weber, of 54Freedom, hosted a well-attended meeting of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) on Sunday, April 29, at 5 Ledyard Ave.
The meeting was held in preparation for the upcoming summer sports camps, including football, baseball, softball, basketball, wrestling, soccer, tennis and track, among others.
The meeting, which attracted more than 25 local athletes, was an informational gathering for the athletes’ parents to learn about the schedules, fees, forms, transportation and expectations for the campers. The athletes, not being as interested in the paperwork process, enjoyed videos from the FCA organization including camp specific promo and an outstanding video entitled “Heart of a Champion.”
“Paul Holgate and Jason Rieth were instrumental in organizing this fine event,” said Griffin. “They are professional brokers with us.” Holgate’s wife, Tina, also helped to coordinate activities.
The meeting, presided over by David Peterson, encompassed the registration process with pizza and drinks graciously provided by the 5 Ledyard organization. Robin Adler conducted an overview of the registration process, advising the parents of the details necessary for a smooth registration.
The meeting lasted about two hours on a sunny day in Cazenovia. Al Adler then orchestrated a competitive kickball game in the expansive back yard of 5 Ledyard Ave.
The group heard testimony from three athletes that attended last year. Zack Adler, Nick Tedesco and Cooper Holgate provided their summary of the specific camps they attended and attested that the camps were enthusiastically-coached, well-designed, helped them in their sport and were a great Christian event.
This year’s camps will be held June 25 through 29 at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania.
