CRIS prepares for annual purse auction

— The Second Annual Silent Purse Auction to benefit Community Resources for Independent Seniors will be offering an exciting raffle at this year’s event on May 9 and 10.

The top seller on Etsy in the Bags and Purses category, Janine King Designs, has donated a “tech set” consisting of a laptop bag, iPad case, Kindle case and iPhone case to be raffled.

Featured on the Martha Stewart Show, this husband and wife team of Donald and Janine King create all American-handmade products here in Central New York. For those who are not familiar with Etsy, it is an e-commerce website focused on handmade or vintage items.

New and gently used purses (designer labels, local artisan creations) will be auctioned on May 9 and 10. The village of Cazenovia will be festive and fun on the eve of May 10, with “Ladies’ Night Out, ” offering refreshments and socializing at the Lincklaen House and the Silent Purse Auction to benefit all seniors in our community.

—From noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, at the Greater Cazenovia Area Chamber of Commerce office, purses will be available for bidding, as well as cash-and-carry. Bidding will take place from noon to 7:30 p.m. May 10 at the GCACC office.

—From noon to 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, at the Lincklaen House, additional bidding and the auction will take place.

There are posters advertising this event and “pink purse” drop boxes throughout the village. The boxes will be in place for donated purses until May 5. Watch for the big pink purse. It will be rolling down Main Street very soon.

To purchase raffle tickets ahead of the event ($2 each/$5 for three), call the CRIS office at 655-5743 or purchase from Bonnie Slocum and Cindy Underriner.
