Loretta Jackson celebrated her 100th birthday with a song from the YMCA's Little Lakers preschool program.
continued During the March 21 celebration, Tobin gave a small speech honoring her cousin and said that The Today Show contacted Jackson and wanted to mention her centenary birthday on the March 22 program. The Little Lakers preschool program at the YMCA and Community Center also attended the birthday party and sang “Happy Birthday” to Jackson before she blew out her candles.
P.E.A.C.E., Inc. catered the party, headed up by the Assistant Food Services Director Dan Fletcher. Tops grocery store donated a cake and flowers, and Jackson’s church, St. Mary's of the Lake in Skaneateles, donated pink carnations.
Catherine Mecomber, Jackson's granddaughter, said on her grandmother’s behalf of all those who came for the party, “Thank you for being here, thank you for all the birthday wishes.” Jackson herself was thankful for the “friends and family” that had gathered to celebrate alongside her.
