LETTERS: The beginnings of a new park in Manlius

To the editor:

On the former site of an abandoned house, the village of Manlius has the beginnings of a new park. This project is the result of many years of work by the neighbors, the mayor and the Manlius Village Board. It was a long legal process to achieve our goal of removing the derelict building, and we greatly appreciate the efforts and support of the mayor and the board.

The park is located on the corner of Pleasant and Moulter Streets in the Early Village neighborhood, where the first settlers of Manlius lived in the late 1700s. The site will be named Founders Park to honor those early settlers. There will be a community work day to complete the park through plantings, benches and walkways. It will be a wonderful addition to our community.

Many thanks to Mayor Mark-Paul Serafin and the village board for making Founders Park a reality.
