To the editor:
The Central New York Regional Office and Administration at Camp Good Days and Special Times would like to profoundly thank the Fayetteville-Manlius High School community for their consistent, tireless efforts in raising $133,000 at the 2012 “Run DM-12” F-M High School Dance Marathon.
We are completely overwhelmed by this generosity of the heart! Jacob Hess, filling the new leadership role of Student Council Advisor at F-M, and his phenomenal team of Student Council Advisors – President, David Ondrich; Vice President, Andrew Bannar; Secretary, Carly Romano; and Treasurer, Michael Zazzara – did not miss a beat in raising awareness and achieving their goal. The team, including Sawyer Dew, Morgan Drake, Matt Wells, Natalie Maier and more, exceeded the previous years’ totals and dedicated countless hours before and after school for the entire year securing donations, sponsorships and keeping the other students motivated and energized through the last minutes of the dance.
We also want to thank all the students and faculty at F-M High School, the families, vendors and supporters in the Fayetteville-Manlius Community for their commitment year after year to helping us send Central New York children to camp. Camp Good Days & Special Times is a 501c3 program that offers free-of-charge residential camp programs for children, adults and families with a cancer or sickle-cell anemia diagnosis and our programs have remained free-of-charge for the last 33 years because of fundraisers like the FM Dance Marathon. The funds raised go directly to sending our own Central New York children, adults and families to week-long residential camp on Keuka Lake – and also provides activities and outings for our “Cuse Kids Club” and “Sassy Survivors” monthly programs.
If you consider all the hours put in raising money, getting donations and the student interaction with our campers… this generosity of the heart affects many more lives than can be imagined – and we truly want to honor and celebrate these contributions. It’s extremely important for us to bring attention to the efforts of these teens who are doing such important work that will no doubt change their lives – and others – for years to come.
On behalf of the entire staff of Camp Good Days, the campers and their families, we extend our profound thanks, sincere appreciation and congratulations to their leader, Jacob Hess, the fabulous F-M Student Council members, the amazing F-M students and the entire Fayetteville-Manlius community. None of us will ever forget you or your good work!
In sincere appreciation and gratitude,
Renee Devesty, CNY Regional Directory, Camp Good Days & Special Times
