Mike Latocha, of Latocha Builders and Renovations, stands in the area that will house one of the footings for the pavilion as Peter J. Coleman looks on.
SYRACUSE A 47’ x 93’ pavilion will cover the north end of Coleman’s upper parking lot in time for St. Patrick’s Day, said publican Peter J. Coleman. For years, Coleman’s has used tents to house the overflow crowd on Green Beer day and St. Patrick’s Day and to protect patrons and bands from the elements during Coleman’s Thursday night Block Parties in the summer.
The last two years, however, Coleman’s has experienced weather-related problems with its tents.
“We know these events are vital to our success, so we opted for a long-term solution,” Dennis Coleman, general manager of the pub explained. The pavilion, designed by Harmony Architectural Associates, is already under construction. Mike Latocha, of Latocha Builders and Renovations, Inc. is the general contractor on the project.
“The pavilion is designed to fit into the neighborhood and the design of the structure itself should reduce the noise level from the bands a bit,” architect Dave Colegrove said.
When the pavilion is not being used for events, it will serve as covered parking, Colegrove said.
Coleman’s is also adding new fences to three sides of the parking lot.
