The annual Skaneateles Library book sale will be held July 12 through 15, rain or shine, on the library lawn, 49 East Genesee Street. The sale hours are Thursday, July 12, 6 to 9 p.m.; Friday, July 13, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, July 14, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. New this year, there will be a “Bag Sale” from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15.
With thousands of gently used books, including adult, young adult and children’s hard cover and paperbacks, DVDs and CDs, the annual Skaneateles Library book sale is an event that book lovers and bargain hunters will not want to miss.
In general, all books under the main tent, including hard cover and trade paper fiction and non-fiction, will be $3 on Thursday, the opening night, and $2 on Friday and Saturday; children's books will be $2 on opening night and $1 on Friday and Saturday; and mass market paperbacks will be $1. Rare books and specialty items will be priced as marked. During Sunday’s “Bag Sale,” customers may fill a plastic grocery bag full of books for $3.
Marcia Watt and Chris Grajko, library trustees and co-chairs for this year’s book sale, credit the success of the sale to the generous support of the Friends of the Skaneateles Library and the community as a whole. The sale would not be possible without the book donations received throughout the year and the volunteers who sign up to help during the event.
The annual book sale is a significant fundraiser for the Skaneateles Library which, as an independent Association Library, does not receive any tax-based funding.
