LETTERS: CASA thanks area bowlers for support

To the editor:

We’d like to share some interesting senior news from the Cazenovia Area Senior Association.

Formerly under the auspices of RSVP, the senior bowling program is alive and well, being held at 1 p.m. each Wednesday at Caz Sports Bowl.

This valuable program gives the community’s seniors a chance to socialize, exercise and show off their skills for just $1 a game, including free coffee and donuts from our hosts at Caz Sports Bowl. The program actually goes back more than 15 years and is currently coordinated by our own Helen Mason. Thank you Helen.

There are no teams or trophies involved, just bowling against each other for highest scores. Splits still cause much moaning whereas strikes are cheered by all.

CASA hopes more seniors will try bowling for fun and exercise. Beginners and experienced bowlers are welcome.

Following is a catchy and clever poem written by the league mascot, Nona Comfort, of Cazenovia:

Caz Ladies Defy the Seasons

Summer’s near and bowling ends

But not for the Caz ladies and friends

Hear the sound as the pins go down

These gals are famous all over town.

Sometimes they can’t get it right

Though they throw with all their might

Dang! How did that ball get such a curve?

A mind of its own. Boy, some nerve.

In the end the ladies win their game

And continue to gather well-earned fame.

A good time is had by all

And, boy, can they throw that ball.

The men had better watch their style

The ladies might beat them after a while.

Doesn’t matter, it’s just for fun,

So let’s give a cheer for everyone.

Board, Officers, Members
