We are working with the Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District to control stormwater runoff from priority areas. In addition, we are continuing to focus on improving septic management. Our town engineer, John Dunkle of Dunn and Sgromo, is evaluating the feasibility, costs and potential benefits of sewering problem areas around the lakeshore. This focus on controlling the root causes of water quality degradation is ultimately the only long-term strategy for managing Cazenovia Lake for the enjoyment of future generations, including the young children who waited so patiently through our town board meeting.
In closing, we encourage the entire community to stay involved with the lake restoration effort. The Cazenovia Lake Association has led the fundraising effort, which has leveraged the financial and in-kind contributions of the town and village and allowed us to complete Phase III of the program.
I trust that the lake will be inviting to recreational users for years to come.
