LETTERS: Many grateful after Civil War Weekend in Peterboro

To the editor:

The 20th Annual Peterboro Civil War Weekend Committee is grateful for the re-enactors, volunteers and visitors who did not let soggy weather interfere with the annual educational and fund-raising event for the Smithfield Community Association.

Without the tireless effort and dedication of so many volunteers and the support of the entire community the event is not possible.

Without the 12th Regiment U.S. Infantry (re-enacting) as the host unit, there would not be an authentic domestic and military encampment. The committee salutes the 12th for its attention to safety and historical detail.

Without the benefit these generous sponsors the event would not have funding for expenses necessary to accomplish the result: A.W. Kincaid, Alliance Bank, Blue Ox, Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Homes, Deli on the Green, Den Kelly Chevrolet, Dougherty Pharmacy, Frank’s Shooting Supply, Haylor, Freyer, and Coon, Inc., John Froass and Son, John Sebring, Lebanon Campgrounds, MacKinnon Liquors, Madison County Tourism, Friends of Bill Magee, Marshall Realty of Madison County, Norman K. Dann Sterling Silver, Oneida Savings, Oriskany Falls Rotary Club, Rainbow and Rainbow, Scharman Propane, Tucker’s Septic, the Town of Smithfield and the Cultural Resource Council.

The continued loyalty and efforts on behalf of the weekend are admired and appreciated.
