DeWitt A Manlius Pebble Hill physical education teacher has been charged with forcibly touching a student.
Onondaga County sheriff's deputies charged Thomas Pritchard, 45, of 5107 Old Barn Road in the town of Clay, with forcible touching, a misdemeanor, today at 11:45 a.m., Sheriff Kevin Walsh said.
Pritchard, who is also assistant athletic director at the school, is accused of committing the act during school hours June 1. He was placed on administrative leave today, school officials said.
The alleged victim reported the incident Tuesday, June 19, to school officials, who immediately notified DeWitt police.
Pritchard was arraigned in the village of East Syracuse and sent to the Onondaga County Justice Center with bail set at $500 cash or $1,000 bond.
Pritchard has been employed at the school since 1994 and coached modified boys’ lacrosse, soccer and basketball.
