LETTERS: Memorial Day Committee thanks community

— To the editor:

On behalf of the Memorial Day Parade Committee, we wish to thank the many volunteers and parade participants for their enthusiastic support for this year’s Memorial Day Parade.

In particular, we would like to recognize the financial support of the towns of Lysander and Van Buren, and the Village of Baldwinsville. The additional bands would not have been possible without their generous endorsement. We would also like to recognize the Riverview Cemetery and St. Mary’s Cemetery maintenance staff for preparing both sites for our memorial services. We would also like to extend a special thanks to the Lions Club, Police Administrator Michael Lefancheck, Police Lt. Tom LeRoy, Police Sergeant Mike Lockwood, Baldwinsville Fire Police and associates, Baldwinsville Village DPW, Onondaga County Auxiliary Police, Baldwinsville Women’s Garden Club and Atlantic Sign and Design.

PAC-B did a splendid job of covering the parade as always. We would like to extend our gratitude to Bob Stockdale, Bob Edgett, Colin Kahl, Joe Loffredo and Norma Goodman for their continued support and enthusiastic coverage of our annual Baldwinsville Memorial Day tradition.

John and Connie Hudson and Linda Ross generously and graciously provided their beautiful cars to transport the Grand Marshall, President of the Day/ Guest Speaker and Man and Woman of the Year.

Charles “Chuck” Brooks delivered one of the most memorable and heart felt addresses our community has ever heard. His words captured the essence and spirit of the national day of remembrance. Those that attended the memorial program at Riverview Cemetery will “long remember” this young man’s tribute. PAC-B will broadcast the parade and program; check the listings in the Messenger.

We look forward to planning next year’s parade and hope that this beautiful and important tradition will be met with continued support and involvement.
