LETTERS: Spires endorses Mahoney for village board

To the editor:

Do you remember why you moved to Cazenovia?

Maybe you were born and raised here. Or maybe, like my family, you discovered Cazenovia and adopted it as your home. It’s an amazing treasure we’ve been entrusted with.

A cursory glance at the architecture may lead you to believe Cazenovia seemed to have just happened accidentally over the centuries, without intent or planning. But the reality is that it takes hard work from a dedicated group of citizens to preserve what we have.

Last year Tim Mahoney decided to step into the fray and keep our village vibrant as a village trustee.

I know Tim. He isn’t a career politician. In fact, he’s only been a trustee for 11 or so months. He was appointed when Kurt Wheeler left the board to become mayor. It’s what he was able to accomplish in those first 11 months that’s indicative of his character and what he can do for us in the next two years.

Did you know Tim has already saved our village thousands of dollars?

At a recent village meeting Tim starting asking questions about the interest rate on several bonds the village will paying on for many years to come. After digging into the loan information, doing some research, and making a few phone calls he planted the seed that has turned into the refinancing of the village bonds at a lower rate.

Here’s a politician that is “hands on” and implements solutions.

Tim applied his entrepreneurial mindset to benefit all village residents in Cazenovia. I believe he’ll continue to keep our village an amazing place to raise our families and grow our businesses.

From the beautiful lake to the vibrant main street and in our safe neighborhoods, our village is special. We need a trustee like Tim to protect what we have and grow our village into what it can be.

On June 19, I ask that you vote for Tim Mahoney.
