A Report from Station 54

— In an effort to provide the most accurate information regarding our emergency responses, a more detailed breakdown of SFD May responses is located below:

Fire: 16

Rescue: 4

EMS: 6 (SFD responds when SAVES is on another call)

Water Rescue: 0

Mutual Aid: 6 (SFD responds to another fire district)

Total number of calls for May: 32

Total Personnel Hours for May: 662.9

In addition to answering alarms, SFD members continue to train and prepare for any scenario they may face when the pager sounds and the siren goes off. Members of the Skaneateles Fire Department have spent 126 personnel hours training during this past month, bringing the yearly total to 1,033 personnel hours thus far.

As for Labor Day, it is time to reserve a place in the grand parade. This year’s grand parade is scheduled for Sunday September 2nd at 4 p.m. and if you or your organization is interested entering a float, an antique car or antique tractor in this year’s parade please send an email with the following information: individual or organization name, street address, contact person and contact phone number to Paul Jones, Parade Chairperson at jones@mcclurgteam.com.

If your child or you have ever been interested in participating in pushball, you will once again have your chance! Get four of your closest friends, enter a team and enjoy the excitement. Children’s pushball will be held on Saturday September 3rd beginning at 4 p.m., followed by adult community member pushball. The 4th Annual Community Bucket Brigade will be held Sunday evening following the firematic competitions and this year there are three categories for participants. The first group of participants will be firefighters, followed by adult community members/groups and concluding with the children. If you would like to register pushball or the bucket brigade, please send your request to sfdparade@hotmail.com .

At this time, 400 of the 1,000 tickets for the “Big Money” drawing have been sold. Tickets for the “Big Money” drawing are still available from any firefighter or online at skanvfd.com. June’s monthly winners were: 0176, 0254 and 0599.

Congratulations to June’s winners and the monthly drawings will continue until the final “Big Money” drawing to be held on Sunday September 2, 2012 at the Skaneateles Fire Department’s annual Labor Day Celebration.
